Ideas for the School Holidays

It can be difficult for Parents, Grand Parents and Guardians when the school holidays come around again. So this page has some ideas for things for the kids to do in the Worthing area. Just follow the links for more information.

Outside Activities: 

• Minature Railway and Pony Rides - At Brooklands Pleasure Park
• Fishing or catching crabs from Worthing pier or Shoreham harbour.
• Go-Karts & Mini Moto Cuircuit - At Brooklands Park
• Par 3 - 9 Hole Golf Course - At Brooklands Park
• Parks and Gardens: Highdown Gardens, Beach House Park, Denton Gardens, Marine Gardens and Homefield Park
• Playgrounds can be found in: Homefield Park, Victoria Park, West Park, Goring Recreation Ground, Field Place, Palatine Park, Tarring Recreation Ground, Lyons Farm Open Space, Longcroft Park, Northbrook Recreation Ground, Hillbarn Recreation Ground, Rotary Recreation Ground, Durrington Recreation Ground, The Gallops and Pond Lane Recreation Ground. 
• Skateboarding at the purpose built Skateboarding Park at Homefield Park
• Kite flying at one of the local open spaces or high spots: Highdown Hill, Lancing Ring, Devils Dyke, Mill Hill, The Gallops
• Miniature Steam Train Running Day at Field Place - Second and fourth Sundays of every month between April and October.
• Go paddling at the newly refurbished Paddling pool - At Broocklands Park for free.
• Enjoy the summer holidays at Pagham Harbour

Workshops & Events: 

• Summer Fun for Kids - Summer Fun activities are held at all major venues across the town - Davison Leisure Centre, The Aquarena, Field Place, Worthing Leisure Centre, the Pavilion and Connaught Theatres, Museum and Art Gallery  
• National Playday - Worthing a free event with lots of activities and stalls, Broadwater Green - 5th August 2009, 10am to 3pm.
• Landlubbers Holiday Club for 5-11 year olds, filled with fun, activities, crafts and much more, St Symphorian's Church Hall - 24th to 28th August.
• Circus Skills with Circus Seen - Sydney Walter Youth Centre, Sussex Road, Worthing, BN11 1DS

Or by bike:

• Along the cycle route from Splash Point to Lancing, Shoreham and beyond.
• Along the river Adur on the Downs Link way starting from Shoreham and spot the sculptures.

If the weather isn't so good, why not go to: 

• 10-pin bowling at the AMF Bowling Centre
• P.L.A.Y. Indoor Children's Play Area.
• Watch a film at the Dome or Connaught Cinemas, for example: Harry Potter, Ice Age 3 and Hannah Montana

• Arundel - Historic town to explore with Castle, Wetlands Centre, walks along the river and around Swanbourne Lake
• Coarse fishing at Passies Ponds 
• Devils Dyke - up on the down and great for kite flying
• Have a walk around Woods Mill Nature Reserve and enjoy the wildlife there
• Take a look at High Salvington Windmill
• There are other museums in Steyning, Storrington Shoreham (Marlipins) and Amberly (Chalk Pits)
• The remains of Bramber Castle in Bramber
• The Roman Villa at Bignor
