Reflections Nursery, Worthing shorlisted for Nursery of the Year
Worthing Nursery shortlisted for UK Nursery of the Year!
Reflections Nursery in Richmond Road, Worthing has been shortlisted for a national award by Nursery World magazine. The Worthing nursery is one of five across the UK to be shortlisted for the prestigious Nursery of the Year Award to be decided in September this year.
Reflections is the only nursery in the Southern region to be considered for the accolade, others are in Birmingham, Cornwall, Suffolk and Northamptonshire. Judging will take place in early September and the results announced in late September.
Reflections was taken over in October 2006 by experienced nursery operators and their vision to create a truly inspiring nursery has led them to be considered for this award. Nursery Manager, Yvonne Barr commented, “The team are absolutely thrilled that their hard work and dedication is being recognised and we are all keeping our fingers crossed that we might win.”
The nursery is set in a large Regency building with extensive gardens and offers 115 places for children aged 3 months to 5 years old. Reflections draws its inspiration from the world-renowned ‘Reggio’ approach to childcare & education which emphasises the value of listening to children and encouraging them to have theories about the world and to test those theories. Children in the nursery are highly motivated and work on long term projects invented by themselves and are supported in their creative work by a qualified artist. The nursery also offers a Forest School programme taking children to local woodland two mornings a week and an out-of-school programme which collects from five local schools.
Managing Director Martin Pace said, “We are optimistic that we can win Nursery of the Year. We are passionate about excellence and we believe it will show through when we are being judged for the award.
