A snapshot of 21st century city life, Wolverhampton boasts a vibrant mix of shopping, art, theatre, sport and nightlife.

 At the heart of the motorway and rail networks, Wolverhampton is in easy reach from anywhere in the UK and an excellent base for exploring the Midlands. Just 17 miles from City of Culture finalists Birmingham, Wolverhampton is the gateway between the historic Black Country and the beautiful countryside of Shropshire and Staffordshire.

 Wolverhampton has lots to offer all visitors to the City.  With over 1,000 years of recorded history and attractions ranging from an expanding art gallery to Britain's only all-weather floodlit racecourse.

By day, the city is a lively and attractive centre for shopping, culture and commerce. By night, it's a haven for 25,000 revellers with numerous clubs, pubs, theatres and concert venues.

 

The Tourist Information Centre in Queen Square provides a wealth of information on the City and a range of guides and souvenirs.

The City's gardens look spectacular at this time of year following major restoration at West Park, St Peter's Church and Bantock House. Other attractions such as the Bilston Craft Gallery and two National Trust properties, Moseley Old Hall and Wightwick Manor are a must to see.

At the end of the day spend an evening at the theatre or go to a concert at the award winning Civic Halls.

Visit Broad Street Canal Basin which provides both a living history lesson and an oasis for wildlife.  Wolverhampton's outstanding 21 lock flight, which passes lock cottages, a racecourse and a nature reserve, has won national awards for the way its historic buildings have been preserved and the environment protected.

Northycote Farm and Country Park which is situated just outside the City of Wolverhampton in Bushbury has a 400 year old restored historic farmhouse within 80 acres of parkland, woodland and pasture.  It hosts a varied selection of animals, always a favourite with children.  There are many informal walks through the Country Park where a wide variety of wildlife can be seen throughout the year. There is an abundance of facilities including partial disabled access, toilets, on site catering and a picnic area.

Sports fans can enjoy football at the Molineux Stadium, home of Wolverhampton Wanderers, or spend a day at the races - horses, greyhounds and speedway.

For those who prefer a quieter time, why not visit the innovative, expanding art gallery or relax in one of the many restaurants, cafes and wine bars?

Children are well catered for in the City.  Wolverhampton Skate Park in the East Park area has a purpose built indoor ramp for skateboarding and BMX. All ages and abilities are catered for and supervised beginners sessions are available. There's also an outdoor skate park at William Henry Fowler Playing Fields in Bushbury.

The City Council organise summer activities and run the successful Jimmy Mullin 5-a-side tournament, with the final being held at Molineux Stadium before a home match and 25,000 fans!

Whether you want to brush up on your putting skills or enjoy a leisurely round for fun with friends and family, the city has pitch and putt at Bantock Park and a putting green at West Park.
