Witnesses sought after man dies following incident in Bilston - 10-10-2008

Police are appealing for witnesses following an incident, in which a man sustained fatal injuries at Bilston bus station yesterday.

Police were contacted after a man, in his 50s, was taken to hospital, having collapsed near to the station at around 5.15pm on Thursday October 9. He was pronounced dead on arrival.

It is believed the man had been assaulted by two other men in the area around the bus station a short time earlier.

A post mortem examination will take place later today.

The local area, near to the market, would have been fairly busy at the time of the incident and witnesses are urged to come forward. Officers are particularly keen to speak to a young man who came to the injured man's aid and summoned the help of other people.

A 34-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and continues to help police with their inquiries.

Anyone with information to assist with the inquiry is urged to contact officers at Wednesfield police station on 0845 113 5000 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
