Security guard asuulted during robbery in Hamstead - 05-08-2008

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was seriously assaulted during a robbery in Hamstead yesterday.

Officers were called to Hamstead House in Coniston Crescent after three men forced entry to the block of flats at around 5.15am on Sunday August 3.

A security guard at the premises challenged the offenders and they ran off. The offenders then returned a short time later and the security guard was assaulted. He suffered serious face and hand injuries.

The man, aged 32, was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition. His injuries are not life threatening.

The offenders are all described as white men, believed to be aged in their mid to late teens. The left the scene on foot.
