Make a splash this summer - 03-07-2008
|
Youngsters will be able to enjoy a splashing time at Wolverhampton City Council leisure facilities this summer.
The council is giving children aged 16 and under the chance to swim for just 50p - with under fives going free - throughout the summer school holidays.
They can take advantage of the 'Splash-tastic Summer' offer during general public swimming sessions at Bilston Leisure Centre or Central Baths from Saturday, July 19, until Sunday, August 31.
Councillor Matthew Holdcroft, Wolverhampton City Council's Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture, said: "These sessions, which give youngsters the chance to swim for just 50p, are always immensely popular and are just one way in which the city council is encouraging people to adopt a healthier and more active lifestyle.
"I hope that hundreds of children will take up the chance to benefit from the scheme during the summer holidays."
A similar incentive for the over 50s, allowing them to swim for just 50p a time, continues to run, with designated sessions at Bilston Leisure Centre on Mondays and Central Baths on Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
For more information on the 50p deals or other activities on offer, please call Bilston Leisure Centre on 01902 552430 or Central Baths on 01902 552150. Alternatively log on to www.wolverhampton.gov.uk/swim. |
