Appeal following serious road collision Wolverhampton - 14-05-2008

Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision which occured at 7.24am today in Wolverhampton.

The collision took place on Stafford Road, Oxley near to the M54 junction.

Three vehicles were involved, a Toyota Aygo, a Fiat Punto and a Volvo Tipper lorry.

Police investigations are ongoing, it appears the lorry and the Fiat Punto were travelling out of city on the A449 towards the M54 island and the Toyota was travelling in the opposite direction from the M54 island when the collision occured.

The driver of the Toyota Aygo, a man, was taken to hospital where he died.

The woman driver and male passenger in the Fiat Punto were treated for minor injuries and the lorry driver was not injured.
