Great free events for both children and adults are lined up at Wolverhampton Art Gallery this weekend.
The gallery's popular monthly club, Art 4 Kids, meets again on Saturday July 5, when the children will be making creepy crawly bugs and brilliantly beautiful butterflies. The club, which is free, runs from 10.30am to 11.30am and again from noon to 1pm.
Wolverhampton City Council's Arts and Museums Access and Interpretation Co-ordinator Tess Radcliffe said: "All Art 4 Kids sessions take place on the first Saturday of each month.
"It's absolutely free and there's no need to book - just come along on Saturday and join in the fun."
Meanwhile, art enthusiasts have the opportunity to enjoy a talk about master painter JMW Turner's Travels Around the Midlands.
Turner came to the Midlands in 1764, arriving in Wolverhampton that July. Wolverhampton Art Gallery, which is part of Wolverhampton City Council, has a watercolour of High Green, featuring St Peter's Church, painted by Turner.
Inspired by his paintings of Wolverhampton and Dudley, art interpreter Doreen Gibbons will talk about the great painter's life and his moving work. It takes place on the same day, Saturday July 5, from 12.30pm to 1pm, and entry is free.
This Saturday, July 5 also sees the launch of the first Open West Midlands show at the gallery. Both emerging and established artists have submitted a whole range of media from traditional watercolours to three-dimensional work and even a number of video pieces. The exhibition continues until Friday, September 5.
