Police in Marston crack down on drugs
Neighbourhood police officers, supported by officers from the Oxfordshire proactive team, carried out a drugs warrant at a house in Cavendish Drive in Marston, at 6.15am today (11/9).
A 27-year-old man was arrested for possession of Class A drugs and a 15-year-old boy was arrested for possession of Class C drugs.
PC Jon Shaw, Neighbourhood Specialist Officer for Marston and Northway, said: "We are carrying out a comprehensive search and have found a small quantity of drugs. The search was carried out by a specialist search team from Windsor, assisted by drugs dog, Duke.
"This warrant comes under the umbrella of Operation Falcon, an operation to tackle drugs users and dealers in the Marston area.
"The Marston and Northway neighbourhood team have been receiving information from the local community about drug related issues. When it comes to tackling drugs, this information is crucial and without it, we wouldn't have been able to carry out this warrant.
"We are still receiving information from the public about activities associated with drug use and the Police Community Support Officers found hypodermic needles close to a primary school - we will not tolerate this behaviour. The neighbourhood team will continue to tackle drug use and dealing in the area but we do rely on intelligence from the community so I would like to encourage anyone who has information about those involved in drug dealing to contact me."
The Marston and Northway neighbourhood team are holding a police surgery today at the Northway Community Centre from 3.30pm to 5.30pm. This is a good opportunity to come and meet the team and speak to us about any issues you may have.
Anyone with information about drugs offences can either speak to their local police officers or Police Community Support Officers or telephone Thames Valley Police on 0845 8 505 505. If you don't want to talk to police and don't want to leave your name call the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111. http://www.thamesvalley.police.uk/index.htm |
