‘Egging' incidents - Woodley
Police are appealing for witnesses following a number of ‘egging' incidents in the Woodley area.
Over the last three months, officers have been made aware of 20-25 incidents. They have mainly been targeted at houses and vehicles.
PC Jen Banfield from the Woodley Neighbourhood Policing Team said "Whilst we do not want to name road names due to fear of reprisals on residents, this is becoming an issue in the area at the moment.
"Eggs are capable of causing damage when thrown at property. They can break windows and when thrown at cars they can chip the paint when the shell breaks. In this hot weather, they can also leave permanent marks on buildings.
"People should realise that although it may seem fun, it is could be considered as criminal damage which could result in them being arrested.
"We would urge parents to keep an eye on how many eggs they have as we believe the culprits are between the ages of 12 and 18. I would also urge shops to check who they are selling eggs to and question youngsters buying them."
If you need to report an incident of egging or talk to someone in the Woodley Neighbourhood Policing Team, please contact them via the Police Enquiry Centre on 0845 8 505 505. http://www.thamesvalley.police.uk/index.htm |
