Two arrested in connection with skimming device - Maidenhead    

Two men were arrested yesterday (25/6) after allegedly removing a skimming device from a cash machine at Nationwide Building Society in Maidenhead.

The men were seen acting suspiciously near the cash machine at about 11.45am. Shortly afterwards they were arrested on suspicion of going equipped to commit theft. They have since been released on police bail until 20 July pending further enquiries.

The men, aged 19 and 20, are believed to be from the London area.

Police are keeping an open mind as to whether this incident is linked to a similar one which occurred outside Nationwide on 1 June, or the discovery of a skimming device at Barclays Bank in Windsor on 30 May.

People are being advised to always check cash machines before using them. If you think a cash machine has been tampered with, please tell your bank immediately or call police on 0845 8 505 505. In an emergency dial 999.

Suspicious transactions should be reported to your bank immediately.
