Update regarding Cippenham incident - Slough
Roads have been re-opened and children are being allowed to leave schools in the local area of Cippenham following an incident in Slough, Berkshire, this afternoon.
Inquiries are on-going to try and locate a man reported to be armed with a gun.
Several calls were received from members of the public at around 2.46pm, after a man was spotted wandering in the Bower Way area. It is believed the man made threats to a number of people. Detectives are currently taking statements from key witnesses.
Armed response units, local officers and the police helicopter, were deployed to the area where the man was reported to have been last seen.
Supt Chris Ward of Slough Police said:" I would like to reassure local residents that we are currently carrying out a number of lines of inquiry following reports received of a man believed to be armed with a gun.
"This type of incident is extremely unusual for Slough and a thorough investigation is underway.
"We have officers currently liaising with local schools and children are being allowed to leave with their parents."
