A teenager suffered a small cut to his face after being threatened at knifepoint in Wigan.
The incident happened at about 3.15pm on 24 June 2008 on Bedford Street in Pemberton as the 14-year-old boy walked from home from school.
He was grabbed from behind by his attacker who produced a three-inch silver knife and held it to the victim's face.
Frightened, the boy handed over a small quantity of cash.
The offender then fled down Bedford Street in the direction of Enfield Street.
The teen suffered a small 2mm cut to his chin as a result of having the weapon held to his face.
He described his attacker as a white man, about 20 to 30 years old, about 5ft 10in tall with brown or blonde short hair, of medium build, and wearing a grey cotton or fleece tracksuit.
Police are now appealing to anyone with information, or who witnessed the incident, to come forward.
Police Constable Philip White, of Wigan Police Station, said: "We all know the tragic consequences that carrying a knife can cause, and we have all seen the headlines.
"Luckily, the victim did not suffer a major injury but that does not excuse the seriousness of the crime, nor the fact the offender was carrying a dangerous weapon and held it to the face of a young boy.
"I would appeal to anyone who has information about this incident, or who witnessed the robbery, to come forward so we can find this man and punish him."
Anyone with information is asked to call Wigan Police on 0161 872 5050 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. |
