Cyclist injured in collision - 05-07-2008

A cyclist has been injured in a collision with a car in
Ashton-in-Makerfield.

Shortly after 10pm on Friday 4 July 2008, police were called to Low Bank
Road following reports a Mercedes had collided with a bicycle near the
junction of Skitters Grove.

Officers attended and found the 33-year-old cyclist, who had been riding
along the road towards the town centre, had been injured. He was taken to
hospital suffering a serious head injury. At this stage it is not known
whether it could be life threatening.

The motorist was not injured.

Traffic officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the
collision and are appealing for any witnesses to contact them on 0161 856
7201.
