Man exposes himself on canal bank - 04-07-2008

Police in Wigan are hunting a man who exposed himself to a woman as she
walked along a canal bank.

At about 9.15am on Tuesday 20 May 2008, the 27-year-old victim was walking
along the Leeds Liverpool canal footpath, off Farm Lane, New Springs,
Wigan, when the offender rode past her on a mountain bike.

He then stopped in front of her, turned round and exposed himself before
performing a sex act.
The victim then screamed at him and he rode off.

The offender is described as white, but sun-tanned, in his mid 30s, about
5ft 9in tall with an average build, short black hair which appeared gelled
and was clean shaven apart from a black goatee beard. He was riding a
new-looking dark mountain bike with chrome handlebars.

The woman was uninjured but left very upset by the incident.

Police Constable Steve Foulkes from GMP's Wigan Division said: "This woman
was approached by the offender and left totally intimidated.

"She was not hurt but has been left shaken by her ordeal.

"I would appeal to anyone that may know who is responsible to call the
police."
