Road traffic collision M6 - man charged - 03-07-2008

A man has been charged following a fatal road traffic collision on the M6
southbound.

Darren Briercliffe, 23 of Hombrook Road, Liverpool, has
charged with causing death by dangerous driving and driving a vehicle
while above the alcohol limit level.

He is due to appear at Wigan Magistrates' Court this morning, Thursday 3
July 2008.

Shortly after 1.50pm on Monday 30 June 2008, police were called to the M6
southbound between junctions 26 and 27 following reports a grey Renault
Clio had left the carriageway and collided with an embankment.

Police attended with the ambulance and fire service and found the car had
overturned.

Lee Mark McKenna, aged 29, originally from Liverpool, died in the
collision.
