Police are asking Yarm residents for information after an armed robbery at the town's Somerfield store. Shortly before 12.30pm today a male Securicor employee was filling an ATM at the store when he was approached by a man brandishing a weapon, possibly a handgun. The suspect grabbed an amount of cash and made off in a red Nissan Primera driven by another suspect, registration number PG05 UCB, which was later discovered dumped nearby in The Rigg. Officers believe the Nissan Primera had been in the area since around 7am today and they ask anyone with information or who believes they have seen anything suspicious to contact them. The Securicor employee was not physically hurt during the incident and detectives from Stockton CID are this afternoon continuing their enquiries. Anyone with information is asked to contact DI Craig Hobbs on 01642 302226 or the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. http://www.cleveland.police |
