ROADWORKS REPORT WEEK ENDING: 19th October 2008

 

New Works

     

Yarm Fair

 

Yarm Fair will take place on 16th, 17th and 18th October 2007. A67 Yarm
High Street road closures between Bentley Wynd and Bridge Street as
follows:

 

Tuesday 14th October between 5:30pm and 9:00pm (Fair set up)

Thursday 16th October between 6:00pm and midnight

Friday 17th October between 6:00pm and midnight

Saturday 18th October between 11:00am and midnight

 

Access to Silver Street and the supermarket car park will be maintained
on the Saturday from the Yarm bridge end of the High Street. Pedestrian
access will be maintained at all times. Traffic Management North East
will provide signed diversion routes throughout.

 

Harvard Avenue / Fudan Way Teesdale

 

As a result of Balfour Beatty carrying our bridge deck construction
works, a temporary road closure of Harvard Avenue is required from
Monday 13th October until Friday 17th October between the hours of
9:15amd and 4:45pm.

 

Harvard Avenue will be closed from its roundabout junction with
University Boulevard in a northerly direction for a distance of
approximately 65 metres.

 

Fudan Way will be closed from its junction with Harvard Avenue in a
westerly direction for a distance of approximately 30 metres.

 

Access for pedestrians and emergency services will be maintained at all
times during these works and a signed diversion route will be in
operation via Fudan Way, Massey Road and University Boulevard.

 

Cowpen Lane / Nuffield Road Junction, Billingham

 

As a result of Tarmac National Resurfacing Contracting carrying out
resurfacing works at the Cowpen Lane / Nuffield Junction on Saturday
11th October and Sunday 12th October, a temporary closure of Nuffield
Road onto Cowpen Lane is required. A signed diversion will be in place
and temporary two way lights on Cowpen Lane.

 

 

Wynyard Road, Thorpe Thewles

 

As a result of carriageway works by Highways Construction, temporary
road closures are required on Wynyard Road into Thorpe Thewles. The
following closures are planned:

 

Saturday 18th October 10:00pm - 10:00am

Sunday 19th October 6:00pm - 6:00am

Saturday 25th October 10:00pm - 10:00am

Sunday 26th October 6:00pm - 6:00am

Sunday 2nd November 6:00pm - 6:00am

 

Wheatley Road / Wickham Road, Hardwick

 

As a result of Tarmac National Resurfacing road closures will be
required on Wheatley Road and Wickham Road from Monday 13th October and
last all week.  A signed diversion route will be in place.

 

Coal Lane / Moreland Close, Wolviston

 

As a result of new sewer connection works by Northumbrian Water,
temporary traffic signals are required on Coal Lane / Moreland Close
from Monday 13th October until Friday 24th October.

 

Forest Lane, Kirklevington

 

As a result of Northumbrian Water works to install a new manhole frame
and cover, temporary traffic signals are required outside 43 Forest
Lane, Kirklevington on Monday 13th October until Friday 24th October.

 

Junction Road / The Glebe, Norton

 

As a result of Northumbrian Water works to install a new manhole frame
and cover, temporary traffic signals are required at Junction Road / The
Glebe on Tuesday 14th October.

 

Riley Street, Stockton

 

As a result of Northumbrian Water works to install a new manhole frame
and cover, temporary traffic signals are required at outside 6 Riley
Street on Wednesday 15th October.

 

Continuing Works

 

Yarm High Street

 

Northumbrian Water / Balfour Beatty works started in Yarm High Street on
7th January 2008 and are now on site working from Riverside Mews heading
towards the Catholic Church on the East side in the cobbles / parking
area. 

 

Hardwick Estate

 

Temporary road closures from 16th August, 2007, for approximately an
18-month period to allow service diversions and construction works at
High Newham Road, Waldridge Road, Whitburn Road, Whorlton Road and
Windleston Close, Hardwick.

 

Norton High Street

 

As a result of demolition and construction works to numbers 44 - 48
Norton High Street being undertaken by Wharton Construction Ltd a
temporary closure of the service road and footpath directly outside
numbers 44 - 48 is required from Monday 16th June for approximately 40
weeks. Access for residents and emergency services will be maintained. A
pedestrian diversion will be signed via a protective barrier on the road
along the High Street.

 

Norton Road

 

White lining works still to be completed, traffic management may be in
place where required throughout the week.

 

Mitchell Avenue, Thornaby

 

As a result of major gas mains renewal works by United Utilities (Gas),
lanes may be narrowed near to the excavation areas between Stanstead Way
and Stainsby Gate. Works are expected to run until mid November.

 

Urlay Nook Road, Eaglescliffe

 

Direct Services are undertaking works to construct crossing points on
Urlay Nook Road, near Tesco in Eaglescliffe on Monday 22nd September and
are likely to continue until 10th October. As the works are to take
place off road, 2-way traffic is to be maintained and delays are not
expected. Additional road markings will be required from Monday 13th
October any disruption to traffic flow is to occur.

 

A1032 Newport Bridge Approach Road

 

As a result of works to the access to the Terra Site on the A1032 being
carried out by John Hellens (Contracts) Ltd, lane closures are required
from the 16th June and are ongoing during off-peak hours (09:30 -
15:30). A temporary central reserve closure is required at the access to
the Volvo / GrowHow site. Access will be left in / left out. Access from
the south will be to 'u-turn' around the Synetix roundabout at the end
of Portrack lane.

 

A177 Durham Road, Stockton

 

As a result of widening works on the A177 Durham Road, at the exit from
Tesco Extra, lane narrowing will be required on the southbound
carriageway from Monday 1st September for 10 weeks during off peak hours
(09:30 - 15:30).

 

Resurfacing works will be carried out towards the end of the 10 week
period and overnight closures will be required over two or three
weekends.

 

Future Works

 

A66 Reconstruction/Resurfacing Work,Viewley Hill Farm (East of

Long Newton) to Yarm Road (A10270)     

 

Contractors working on behalf of the Highways Agency will be undertaking
essential carriageway reconstruction and resurfacing work on an approx 5
km length of the A66 from Viewley Hill Farm (east of Long Newton
Village) to the Yarm Road (A1027) interchange for a period of approx 9
weeks from 20th October 2008 until 17th December 2008.

 

The works will involve east/west bound lane closures replaced with
contra flow traffic management with single lane running, together with
the closure of slip roads, side roads (mainly evening times with signed
diversion routes), central reserve crossings, lay bys,
cycleway/footpaths and vehicle width restrictions. A 50 mph speed limit
will be in force through the works.

 

The work will be carried out in 2 phases, Phase 1 - Viewley Hill Farm to
Elton Interchange will begin on the 20th October 2008 for approx 4 weeks
until 14th November 2008 and Phase 2 - Elton interchange to Yarm Road
(A1027) 17th November 2008 for approx 5 weeks until 17th December 2008.

   

Phase 1 is as follows, and any changes to the schedule will be included
in future road works reports. Details of phase 2 will be released nearer
the date of the works.
