TFM Radio and Stockton Borough Council have come together to highlight the dangers of parking on Zigzags outside of schools. Parking on the Zigzags is illegal and Stockton Borough council along with TFM Radio wanted to highlight the dangers of this. TFM Radio asked the head teachers from all the schools in the Stockton Borough for their help on this issue by entering their school in a competition to highlight the problem. The response was fantastic with lots of schools registering and in turn a good response from all the children. The children were asked to design a plaque which could be used as a deterrent to stop parents parking on zigzags outside of the school. There was two categories 5-7 yr olds and 7yrs plus. Each school had two winners one in each age category and there was an overall winner in the competition. The winning entries will be made into plaques and used in awareness campaigns to be displayed outside of the schools in Stockton area to help deter people from abusing the zigzag lines. the winner for the 5-7 years age group was Briony Gill from Norton primary school and the winner in the 7yrs plus age group was Jacob Aitchinson from Junction Farm Primary school and they were both presented their prize from the Mayor of Stockton at the TFM Radio studios. Councillor John Fletcher, Mayor of Stockton, said: "these two very original winning entries will be a simple, direct reminder to motorists that parking on school zig-zags is both illegal and puts children's road safety at risk." All the entries are displayed on tfmradio.com. http://www.stockton.gov.uk/ |
