EVERY LITTLE HELPS...
STOCKTON Council will be carrying out roadworks to improve the busy junction on the A177 Durham Road at Stockton's Tesco Extra Store - starting on 1 September.
The works will last for ten weeks and are designed to assist traffic flow at the outlet junction between Tesco onto the A177. The works will include the upgrading of the existing pelican crossing to a full signal-controlled junction.
The route into Stockton from Tesco will also be widened to two lanes from the Tesco exit to the Summerville Farm Roundabout to help ease traffic flows. Both carriageways will also be resurfaced to tie-in to the major highway maintenance scheme to improve the A177.
Whilst every effort will be made to reduce the impact of the roadworks on traffic, there will, inevitably, be some delays.
Mike Robinson, Head of Technical Services for Stockton Council, said: "We apologise for any inconvenience and would ask motorists to approach the area with care and recommend motorists travelling in that area allow extra travelling time."
The final surfacing work will be carried out at night under road closures, to minimise the disruption to traffic. During this time, access to Tesco will be maintained and diversions will be clearly signed. http://www.stockton.gov.uk/ |
