Family tribute to Darren Lee Green 
Police have named the man killed in a collision, between a silver Peugeot 106 and a white Vauxhall van on Tees Road in Hartlepool just before midnight last night, as 18-year-old Darren Lee Green. Darren was studying for A-Levels at Hartlepool Sixth Form college where he was an extremely popular student. A representative for Darren's family said: "Darren was a wonderful son, he was taking his A-Levels and had hoped to become a police officer. He turned 18 just last month. He was a keen skateboarder and was very good at karate. He was a very popular boy and will be sorely missed by all of his friends at the college. He was devoted to his girlfriend Aleey. She and the whole family are devastated to lose him." Darren leaves behind his 15-year-old sister Katie and his 8-year-old brother Karl.
