Stockton Council has appointed Helen Dean as its new Assistant Chief Executive Previously Head of Policy and Performance at the Council, Helen now takes on responsibility for its Policy, Performance and Communications teams and joins the authority's Corporate Management Team. After growing up on the south coast and studying at Loughborough University in the midlands, Helen first joined Stockton Council in 1996 as a librarian. Following several years in a variety of libraries and cultural services posts, Helen joined the Audit Commission as a Best Value inspector in 2001. While working at the Audit Commission she led numerous service and corporate inspections and led the commission's work on cultural services before returning to Stockton Council in the summer of 2005. Helen said: "I am delighted to have been appointed to this position.
