Boxing club launched - Thursday, 2 October from 4-5pm

The new club is for boys aged 11 to 19 years and will initially be non-contact with a view to developing it to a full boxing club in the longer term.

Run by fully qualified boxing coaches with all equipment provided, the club starts on Thursday, 2 October from 4-5pm and will run weekly for ten weeks. It will be held at Elmtree Community Centre and costs £2 per session.

Funding has been secured through Sport Unlimited which provides sporting activities for young people. Councillor Ken Lupton, Leader of Stockton Council, said: "This new club will be a wonderful opportunity for youngsters to try a new sport in a safe environment.

The benefits of youngsters engaging in exercise is clear to see and this could be the start of a permanent club in the Borough."For further details contact Emma Turnbull, Stockton Council's Sports Development Officer, on (01642) 524962 or email
