Batty about Moths? - Friday, August 29, from 9pm - 10pm.

THE mysterious lives of bats and moths will be revealed at Wynyard Woodland Park on Friday, August 29, from 9pm - 10pm.

The free event is aimed at adults and families with older children and begins at the Park's Visitor Centre with a short walk to look for bats. Park rangers will then lead the group to the moth traps to see the different species of moth, including the Yellow Underwing, Silver Y and Flame Shoulder, which call the park home.

Councillor Mary Womphrey, Stockton Borough Council's Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, said: "Wynyard Woodland Park is a local treasure but one most people only experience during the day. Evening events like this offer a great opportunity to see what goes on in the woods long after the dog walkers and cyclists have gone home."

People are advised to wear warm clothing, sturdy boots and bring a torch as the walk takes place in the wood and there will be some steps.

Booking is not essential but people are advised to call the Visitor Centre on (01740) 630011 to leave a contact number in case of bad weather on the night.
