Scuttle down to parks for summer activities - Monday August 4,6,7. & 15.

BEASTS, bugs and buried treasure are just some of the many activities to keep youngsters entertained this summer holiday in the Borough's parks.

Billingham Beck Valley Country Park is holding a free family nature trail on Monday August 4 from 1.30 - 3pm. The free, guided walk will help both parents and children discover the wide variety of life which call the beck home in a fun trail.The park ranger will also help youngsters discover the Monsters of the Deep on the afternoon of Friday August 15.

Children and young people can discover what lurks in the depths of the park's pond from 1.30 to 3.30pm for free as well as searching the undergrowth to find their land based cousins.

Wednesday August 6 will give youngsters the chance to discover the riches of Cowpen Bewley Woodland Park with a free buried treasure hunt. From 2 - 3.30pm children can follow a trail around the park in pursuit of riches and glory and discover the many interesting facts about the park at the same time.

Finally, youngsters can discover the lives of creepy crawlies at Preston Park with a bug hunt and craft session on Thursday, August 7.

Children can join the park rangers on a woodland bug hunt from 2 - 3pm discovering the many interesting insects and creepy crawlies living in the park before making their own gravity defying balancing bug to take home from
3 - 3.30pm. This event costs £1. Councillor Mary Womphrey, Stockton Borough Council's Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, said: "There is so much for youngsters to do during the holidays in our award winning parks there is no reason for anyone to be bored this summer.

"All these events must be booked in advance and an adult must accompany all children aged 16 and under.
