Showcasing Stockton Borough - Wednesday, July 2,
|
Stockton Borough will be in the spotlight this week when The Mayor of Stockton hosts a visit from the Lord Lieutenant of County Durham. Councillor John Fletcher will host the visit from Sir Paul Nicholson, The Queen's representative in County Durham, on Wednesday, July 2, taking in the sights and sounds of the Borough including a tour of Preston Hall Museum, the iconic new bridge on the River Tees, the whitewater course at the Tees Barrage and the Aspens Garden Extra Care Scheme.
The Lord Lieutenant will tour the Hall, which has recently seen the Winter Garden restored to its former glory and is currently aiming to develop facilities at the museum further with a £3.6million grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
The new footbridge at North Shore is currently taking shape with the 60m long southern arch recently being lifted into place before the 120m long northern arch is lifted into place in August.
The award winning Aspen Gardens Extra Care Scheme is part of the £100 million Hardwick Green redevelopment providing state of the art care and facilities for elderly and frail residents.
Councillor John Fletcher, Mayor of Stockton, said: "Preston Hall Museum and Aspen Gardens are just two of the many exciting developments taking place throughout the Borough and this is a wonderful opportunity to showcase what the Tees Valley has to offer."
