Spot the early birds at Billingham Beck - May 18 from 5.30 - 7.30am

EARLY bird visitors can discover the different plants and creatures in a Borough park this month thanks to two guided walks. Park Rangers at Billingham Beck Valley Country Park will lead visitors on a guided bird spotting walk on Sunday, May 18 from 5.30 - 7.30am to listen to the springtime medley of birdsong.Rangers will show visitors the many different species of bird who call the park home and people are welcome to bring along a pair of binoculars to spot them. Visitors should dress up warm for the many stops along the route before joining the Rangers for tea and toast in the visitor centre after the walk. Park rangers are also inviting families to join them in a fun nature trail on Friday, May 30, from 10.30am to 12.30pm. The Flour Trail invites children and families to follow flour marks throughout the park before testing their knowledge of the different plants and animals in the park with various prizes to be won.
Councillor Mary Womphrey, Stockton Council's Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, said: "Springtime really does see our Borough parks come alive with activity following the long winter months and these guided walks will help visitors to recognise the different creatures living in the Borough." The events are free however places are limited so advanced booking is essential.
