The wonders of the universe come to Wynyard - May 2, May 16, June 6 and June 20, July 18 and August 1,
|
YOU don't have to go into space to discover the wonders of the universe this summer thanks to a series of exciting and informative presentations from the Wynyard Woodland Park Planetarium.
The Planetarium is hosting a series of Wonders of the Universe shows throughout the summer exploring the different views of the night sky as seen from all over the earth.
The shows, which take place on May 2, May 16, June 6 and June 20, July 18 and August 1, will explore the constellations and other wonderful sights visible in the night sky from various locations and the legends about how they got their names more than 4,000 years ago.
Councillor Mary Womphrey, Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, said: "There are some amazing sights which make up our night skies and this show will help people to identify the different stars and constellations while entertaining visitors with stories about the origins of their names.
"Because the Planetarium has a special star projector you don't have to travel to the ends of the earth and beyond to see the wonders of the universe which are not visible from the UK."
The show lasts 1¼ hours and public Planetarium show charges apply (£3.50 per adult, £2 concession, £7 per family).
