Watch the birdie! - April

BLUE tits at Wynard Woodland Park are getting the Big Brother treatment thanks to a nest box webcam. Park Rangers have installed a webcam giving live video coverage inside the nesting box, which has already seen interest from a pair of blue tits.

The webcam was first set up in 2005, when all nine chicks from the first brood successfully fledged. Blue tits can have up to 10 chicks in any one brood and up to three broods in any given year and it is hoped another brood will hatch in the nest box very soon.

Councillor Mary Womphrey, Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, said: "There is a wide variety of amazing wildlife living in parks across the Borough and this web cam is a great way to see how birds develop from hatching through to the time when they leave the nest."
