 Come and join the Carnival!





STOCKTON International Riverside Festival (SIRF) is 21 years old this year - and you are invited to help make the Community Carnival bigger and better than ever!

SIRF 2008 takes place from July 31 - August 3, with the Carnival on Saturday, August 2 - and there are plenty of ways people of all ages can get involved.

Stockton Council's Arts Development Team is looking for people with a whole range of interests, so whether you have a flair for costume making, want to try out new dance styles, or have a go in a drumming group, then get in touch.

A series of workshops will run throughout the coming months and whether you are an individual, school or community group, there are plenty of opportunities.

Participating people and groups will be able to work with artists to develop their role in the Carnival.Councillor Mary Womphrey, Stockton Council's Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture,said: "The Community Carnival is at the very heart of Stockton International Riverside Festival.

It is always a real sight to behold as the hundreds of people participating enjoy the Carnival, with music and colour bringing the High Street to life."
