YOUNGSTERS from primary schools across Stockton Borough will be celebrating at a special fun-day event, at Hays Travel in Billingham town centre, when the winner of a special poster competition will be revealed. Pupils were asked to design a poster to put the message across how it's important to take holidays during designated school holidays.The fun-day will run from 10.30am - 2.30pm and 'Street Boy' from TFM will be there to present the awards and prizes. Last year Hays Travel saved holidaymakers a total of £9,000 collectively for booking during school holidays and are offering the same incentive this year.Councillor Alex Cunningham, Stockton Council's Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: "The discount of an extra ten per cent for taking holidays during the proper school holiday calendar is an excellent incentive for parents to help reduce not only persistent absenteeism, but the cost of family holidays." "Our grateful thanks go to Hays Travel who are extremely supportive in our efforts to ensure parents book holidays at the proper time.
