Take the Plunge: Kids Swim FREE during half term - 11-05-2008
|
St Albans City & District Council and Leisure Connection are encouraging children and young people to get active this half term as the Kids Swim Free Scheme returns.
In February, nearly 1,600 children and young people took advantage of the initiative and from Monday 26th to Friday 30th May anyone under the age of 18 can once again access free swimming at Bricket Wood Sports Centre, Harpenden Swimming Pool and Westminster Lodge Leisure Centre in St Albans.
Both Leisure Connection and St Albans City & District Council are committed to encouraging children and their families to lead healthy and active lifestyles. Swim for Free is just one of many new initiatives planned to ensure sport and physical activity is fun and accessible to local residents.
Cllr Sheila Burton, Portfolio Holder for Sport and Healthy Living, said: "Fancy a splash around for FREE in your local leisure centre pool at half term? Then dive right in and find out what's on offer."
To participate in the scheme children and young people must hold a Leisure Card (free to all residents of the district). No bookings are required, but due to maximum pool numbers, spaces will be allocated on a first come basis. Normal rules apply and children under the age of 8 years must be accompanied by an adult.
Sessions will run at the following times each day:
10.00 - 11.00 am 11.00 - 12.00 noon 2.00 - 3.00 pm 3.00 - 4.00 pm
