Police appeal for witness to stabbing in Southampton to come forward - 13-10-2008

Police from the Public Protection unit in Southampton are appealing for a witness to the stabbing of a man in Southampton to come forward.

It follows an argument between a man and a woman in St Denys Road on Sunday September 27 between 10.30pm and 11pm.

Officers know the 27-year-old man ended up with a stab wound to his arm which needed hospital treatment but they are now trying to find out exactly how.

They have now been made aware of a vital witness who called the ambulance service while buying food at a local takeaway to report what had happened.

It's important that they trace the man. They know the man is called Mark but he did not leave a surname.

PC Rachel Bedford from the Public Protection Unit said: "We are very keen to speak to Mark as he obviously saw a lot of what happened. I'd like to ask him to give me a call at Shirley Police Station on 0845 045 45 45 or he could call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

"I'd also like to speak with anyone else who was in the area at the time and saw the incident. They can also call on the same numbers."
