Swaythling Housing Society, part of the Southampton Affordable Home Ownership Partnership (SAHP) won the prestigious prize ‘Provider of the Year', and more honours than any other organisation at the 2008 National Affordable Home Ownership Awards. Low cost home ownership is at the heart of the SAHP drive to deliver quality homes. Swaythling won both categories that they were shortlisted for, "Excellence in Customer Care" and "Best stand alone development" at Hill Street, a difficult site with plenty of challenges but were overcome with good ideas and high quality work. George Clarke Architect, the lead panel judge at the national awards and TV presenter of Channel 4's `Build a New life in the Country` said that this was an "outstanding achievement". Southampton City Council a co-partner of SAHP is delighted that Swaythling Housing Society, which is part of the Radian Group, has achieved this prestigious recognition. Cllr Phil Williams Cabinet Member for Housing and Local Services who opened Swaythling's winning Sea Lane development in August said: "It is marvellous that Swaythling Housing Society has received recognition for its excellent customer care and workmanship for its quality affordable homes. The Southampton Affordable Homes Partnership can raise its flag even higher by the success of one of its partners. Good quality affordable homes really change people's lives and this award demonstrates this. The Radian Group have worked consistently to raise the standard of people's expectations. Our other partners, Hyde, Atlantic Housing, Weston Challenge, Aster and Hermitage are equally striving to provide the best possible service to our customers. Swaythling's Award is an inspiration to us all." For more information visit Southampton City Council
