Southampton City Council statement on the closure of the Briars Retirement Home - 06-10-2008

Statement from John Beer, Executive Director of Communities, Health and Care, Southampton City Council:

"Following the Commission for Social Care Inspection's announcement that a decision has been made to close the Briars Retirement Home, Southampton City Council has staff teams in place to manage the home while working to move the residents into other care homes. In doing so, we are fully considering each person's needs and are moving them to the most suitable place possible, where staff are being fully briefed on the care they require."

"Again, we appreciate that this is a difficult and unsettling time for residents and their families. However, we are doing all that we can to make sure that these moves go smoothly and will continue to support residents as they adjust in their new home."
