Witnesses are being sought after a collision between a car and coach near Yarmouth, Isle of Wight, on Wednesday, August 20. At about 3.35pm, a maroon Rover 600 saloon car was travelling from Yarmouth towards Freshwater when it was involved in a head-on collision with a single-decker coach in Hill Lane. The Rover driver, a 74-year-old Freshwater man, and his 71-year-old wife were released from the car by Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service and taken to St Mary's Hospital, Newport. The driver is being treated for two punctured lungs. His condition is described as serious but stable. His wife is being treated for a broken elbow and ribs. The coach driver, a 58-year-old man from Sheffield, was not injured. Five passengers were treated at St Mary's Hospital for minor bruising and discharged. Road closures and diversions were in place on Hill Lane at Colwell Road and the junction with Pixley Hill. Hill lane was re-opened at about 8.30pm.
