Richmond Council is running a series of workshops encouraging borough businesses to operate in a more environmentally friendly manner. Following on from the success of the caterers' workshop in September and as part of the wider Go Green Richmond upon Thames initiative it is now the turn of pubs and bars to learn how to green their business. The ‘Greener Drinks: Boost your profits' free seminar will take place at The Waterman's Arms in Richmond on Tuesday 21 October and will advise businesses on how they can operate more efficiently, achieve savings, and increase profits. Cllr Martin Elengorn, Cabinet Member for the Environment commented: "Go Green Richmond upon Thames is a great way for the Council to help local businesses become more efficient and environmentally friendly at the same time as making noticeable financial savings. "At the workshop experts will be on hand to tell pubs and bars how they could benefit financially from energy conservation, reduced water usage, waste minimisation, recycling and food management. "Businesses will learn about easily implemented initiatives and how to boost their profits and reputation by making a positive change. Reducing the borough's CO2 emissions and supporting local business are key priorities for the Council and this initiative addresses both." The Go Green initiative includes free environmental audits and the support to implement efficiencies in energy, waste, water, travel and procurement. The accompanying accreditation scheme offers businesses the chance to promote their green credentials and informs customers which businesses are reducing their environmental impact.
