A Weekend of Bull - Saturday & Sunday, 18 & 19 October

To celebrate the first season of the return to operating condition of the 150 year old Bull engine, Kew Bridge Steam Museum is offering the steam enthusiast a weekend of in-depth study of Edward Bull and his engine on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 October.

There will be lectures on:

  • Edward Bull - the man and his engines
  • The Bull engine and the Grand Junction Waterworks Company
  • The problems of restoring the engine and how they were overcome
This is the world's only operational Bull engine. The steam cylinder is 70 inches in diameter and the engine fills five levels of it's building. Participants will be allowed full access to all these levels, two not normally open to visitors. The engine will be run and there will be photo opportunities. Lunch will be included.

The price of the lecture is £65 per person, which will include lunch and refreshments. A £10 discount is available for members of the Kew Bridge Engines Trust. Places on the seminar can be booked on our website. Please quote your membership number when ordering.Those attending the seminar will have free entry to the Steam Museum of the following day, Sunday.The world's largest operational reciprocating engine will also be in steam at Kempton Park, 20 minutes drive away. Lifts in private cars to and from Kempton will be offered to those without their own transport.

How to find us:

Buses: 65, 237, 267, 391. All buses stop at Kew Bridge.Main Line Rail: Kew Bridge (South West Trains from Waterloo via Clapham Junction).

Tube: Gunnersbury (District Line then 237 or 267 bus) or Kew Gardens (District Line then 391 bus)

Directions:  From the south of Kew Bridge, go over the bridge, then immediately turn left towards Brentford. The Museum is about 100 yards along on the right hand side, on the corner of Green Dragon Lane and Kew Bridge Road. The museum entrance is in Green Dragon Lane.

From the M4 motorway, leave the motorway at Junction 2 and follow the A4 to Chiswick roundabout. Take the turning towards Richmond, Kew Bridge and Brentford (also signed for Kew Gardens). Go straight ahead at the next set of traffic lights, then move into the right hand lane to go straight ahead at the next set of lights, following signs to Brentford. The Museum is about 100 yards along on the right hand side, on the corner of Green Dragon Lane and Kew Bridge Road. The museum entrance is in Green Dragon Lane.

Yearly Multi-visit ticket: Adults £ 8.50 OAPs & Students £ 7.50(engines in steam at weekends & Bank holidays)
