Police are appealing for witnesses after a fight broke out in St Marys Butt, Reading in the early hours of Saturday (4/10) morning.

The fight occurred outside The Horn, Castle Street, Reading at around 12.50am on Saturday (4/10).

A 23 year-old Aldershot man was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital to be treated for head injuries. However, his condition has since deteriorated and he has now been moved to the JR2 where he is ‘critical'.

Three men aged 20 have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and are currently being held in custody at Loddon Valley.

Det Insp David Miller, from Reading CID, said: "This incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning and the town will have been busy with people being out and about in the bars and clubs.

"We are keen to speak to anyone that was around the area of The Horn pub where the fight happened or anyone saw the fight occur."
