Sonning Common neighbourhood update – August - 06-08-2008
|
This is the neighbourhood update for the Sonning Common area provided by Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Janice Smith:
During the last month the neighbourhood policing team have been out and about at the Woodcote Rally and the Goring and Streatley Regatta. Despite the mixed weather we all had an enjoyable and trouble-free time.
I was also present at the ‘Inspire 08' event which is an initiative by Sonning Common Primary School to introduce the pupils to a multitude of activities.
On 16 July we held our first outside police surgery for the residents of Sonning Common. This was a success and residents stopped to talk to me.
On 9 July we intended to have the first outside police surgery for Binfield Heath and Dunsden residents but due to inclement weather we held it inside the police Land Rover! We have however had two successful out-door police surgeries in Shiplake.
I would like to take this opportunity to remind people about leaving their windows open overnight. Recently there has been an increase in the number of burglaries where keys have been taken and vehicles stolen from outside the houses. Please keep your windows closed if you are not around and if your windows are left open don't leave your keys accessible.
This time of year also sees an increase in thefts from out-buildings, such as sheds and I would suggest to residents that they securely lock up their sheds to help prevent opportunist thieves.
If you would like some crime reduction advice, contact Julia Wheeler on 0845 8 505 505.
We are always looking for ways to improve our service to the people in our neighbourhood. To contact us or to find out more about the team call us on 08458 505 505 or visit http://www.thamesvalley.police.uk/. |
