Free cycling courses for local schoolchildren will be run in Reading over the summer holidays.
The free courses are aimed at children aged 10 and over who can ride a bike but want to fine tune their cycling skills. They cover control, starting and stopping, signalling, turning, overtaking and emergency stops.
The courses are being run at two local schools and a leisure centre on the following dates: - Micklands Primary School, in Micklands Road, Caversham, from Monday, July 28, to Friday, August 1, from 10am to 12noon
- St Mary and All Saints CE Primary School, in Wensley Road, Coley, from Monday, August 4, to Friday, August 8, from 2pm to 4pm
- AcademySport Leisure Centre, in Northumberland Avenue, Whitley, from Monday, August 11, to Friday, August 15, from 10am to 12noon
Liz Aldred, Reading's Road Safety Education Officer, said: "These courses are always really popular with school children, their teachers and parents. We do a lot of work to encourage youngsters to walk or cycle to school and we want to make sure they are confident and safe cyclists before they do this."
