Police in South Ribble are warning motorists to be extra vigilant when it comes to car crime. Over the past few weeks there have been a number of incidents relating to thefts from vehicles and the majority of them have been left insecure with valuables left inside. People are being asked to make sure their vehicle is locked at all times and that they remove all valuables or make sure they are out of sight. Drivers are also reminded that not only should they remove their satellite navigation system, but the cradle that holds it. It is also important to wipe away the marks the cradle leaves on the windscreen as this also tells potential thieves that there could be a sat nav somewhere inside the vehicle. Crime Prevention Officer Beverley Warburton said: "We have had a number of incidents reported to us over the past few weeks and many of these could have been prevented by residents locking their vehicles and removing ALL property." Anyone with any information about car crime should contact 08451 25 35 45 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. www.lancashire.police.uk |
