Preston summer holiday programme - Five weeks between 28 July and 29 August.

YOUNG people won't have time to be bored this summer as the council's leisure centres and sports development department join forces to offer a varied programme of summer activities, taking place at venues across the city. The five-week programme begins on 28 July and promises young people a summer holiday packed with action, excitement and fun - so much so that people are being encouraged to book early to avoid disappointment.Swimming, rock climbing and street dance are just a few of the wide range of sports and activities on offer at locations across the city, including Fulwood Leisure Centre, West View Leisure Centre, St Augustine's New Avenham Centre and Grange Astro Pitch. An extensive timetable of activities is available to children and young people aged between 0 and 16, with weekly summer camps, mornings, afternoons, full days or individual sessions to choose from. A disability summer camp is also available, which offers a combination of coached sports, team games, competitions and fun activities.Councillor Christine Thomas, executive member for community services, said:

"Sport is something that should be for everyone and anyone, no matter what level you play, support or compete. This varied programme of events offers a vast range of activities to keep young people of all ages entertained throughout the five-week summer holidays.
"The sessions are led by qualified, experienced sports coaches to ensure the programme is safe and child friendly and prices are affordable with some two hour sessions costing as little as 50p! This is a great opportunity for young people from across the city to make new friends and enjoy taking part in some new and exciting activities in a fun, safe environment."
