All aboard the cycle special - Exploring Preston by Bicycle - 30/04/08. 17/06/08. 01/10/08.

KEEN cyclists have a chance to enter a two-wheeled wonderland on 30th April with the first of three special rides round the city. The free guided ride will take people on a seven-mile tour of the area, starting and finishing at the university. Caroline Holden, Lancashire County Council cycling officer, said: "This is a great opportunity for anyone who wants to explore the city on their cycle. "It is designed for those who think it's too scary to cycle Preston by bike and those who want some inspiration for new places to ride through. We hope that they will feel more confident getting out by themselves afterwards too.
"It's the first ride of its kind we've done so we hope for lots of interest. It's free and there will be a chance to socialise afterwards." Mark Ellery from the Bicycle Users Group at UCLan, who will act as the ride guide, said: "This is for everyone and will go at the pace of the people who join us."
