Police are appealing for information after an incident where a man threatened a couple and punched their car on the M275 in Portsmouth.
Between 3pm and 3.30pm on Friday, August 15, a 64-year-old man and his 63-year-old wife, both from Chichester, were travelling in their grey Mercedes on the M275 into Portsmouth.
A black Mercedes was travelling behind them, driving erratically and dangerously, flashing the headlights and trying to overtake the grey car, swerving between lanes and causing other drivers to have to take evasive action to avoid the black Mercedes.
The grey Mercedes continued towards the Rudmore Roundabout, and were followed by the black car, which overtook them as they were entering the roundabout and pulled sharply in front of them before stopping, causing them to also have to stop.
The man in the black car got out and was shouting and swearing, and seemed to be very angry. He was asking the man driving the grey car to get out, but the couple remained inside their vehicle.
The angry man punched the window of the grey car twice whilst shouting. He then threatened the couple in the car before getting back into his own car and driving off.
PC Nicholas Hughes said, "This was a particularly frightening experience for the couple in the grey Mercedes, who were both left shaken. I would appeal to anyone who saw the black car driving dangerously on the M275 during the times stated on Friday, or saw the cars when they had stopped at the roundabout, to contact police."
