Police are renewing their appeal for witnesses after a man was assaulted and then hit by a car in Fratton, Portsmouth.
The 23-year-old from Portsea was walking along Kingston Road between 2.30 and 2.45pm on Sunday June 15. He was approached by a drunken man who was swearing and shouting.
He spoke to drunken man about his behaviour and was then attacked. The man ended up in the road and was unfortunately hit by a passing car.
The car did not stop, and continued towards North End.
The man was left with a broken ankle and was taken to QA hospital by ambulance for treatment.
The drunken man is described as:
- White
- 5 ft 9 tall
- In his early to mid 40s
- Medium build
- Bald on top with brown hair at the sides
- Wearing light blue jeans, blue denim shirt and black shoes
- He had a local accent
The car which hit the man was red and possibly a Metro.
PC Kate Bewick is investigating and said: "We are hoping that someone may recognise this picture and help us to identify the drunken man. The man who was injured suffered a painful broken ankle, and there were a number of people in the street who may have seen what happened, and I would encourage anyone who was present or knows the man in the picture to contact police."
