Witness appeal after man glassed in face outside Portsmouth pub - 16-05-2008

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was hit in the face with a glass in Southsea.

The 24-year-old from Havant was sitting outside the Clarence Pub on Clarence Esplanade on Sunday May 11.

He's told officers that he was assaulted between 8.30 and 8,45pm.

After a short argument between his group of friends and another group of people, the man was struck in the face.

He suffered a large cut to his face and had surgery to remove glass from the wound.

The attacker is described as:

• White male
• About 6ft tall
• In his 20s
• Short, dark hair

Detective Constable Katie Holland who is investigating said: "The area outside the pub was very busy at the time of this attack. We would like to hear from anyone who saw what happened."
