Oxford Tourist Information

Oxford is situated in the South East region of England and is the county town of Oxfordshire. The city is most famously recognised for housing the oldest university within the English speaking world, the University of Oxford. 

Oxford University is known for its academic high status all over the world and remains one of the leading academic establishments in the world today. Dating back to the thirteenth century, the buildings that make up the university structure are incredible in their architecture and are authentic in appearance.

Shopping

Entertainment / Nights Out 

For a more cultured experience of Oxford, visitors can go to The Oxford Apollo which now goes by the name New Theatre Oxford. Theatre productions here vary from Welsh National Opera, dance, ballet and major successful musicals such as Chicago.  To accompany this there are regular large scale music concerts which were first initiated in the 1970's as the theatre has a capacity to hold 1800 people.

The Oxford Playhouse Theatre also has a full line up of productions throughout the season covering a variety of tastes.

Leisure

If you would like a day out in the outdoors you can visit Cutteslowe and Sunnymead Park, the largest park in the city.  It is located in the north end of Oxford and has a diverse choice of facilities for all ages such as a children's play area and sports grounds.  The Cutteslowe area within the park has cricket and football pitches that can be hired for the day by visitors.  You can also play a game of miniature golf, basketball and tennis.  The Sunnymead area found towards the south of the park is primarily geared towards teenagers as there are skating parks, basketball courts and a youth shelter.

Oxford Tourist Information Centre

The Tourist Information Centre in Oxford is open Monday to Saturday from 09:30 to 17:00 and on Sundays & Bank Holidays from 10:00 to 16.00

The helpful staff will be happy to provide information about Oxford and the surrounding area, assist with booking accommodation and provide information about the local area. There is also a shop with a wide range of maps, guides and gifts available.
