A Police operation which aims to crack down on anti-social behaviour in Wimborne Place and Daventry Country Park will take place through the school summer holidays between 22 July and 2 September 2008. The Daventry North Safer Community Team will be running the operation to tackle a recent increase in juvenile nuisance, anti-social behaviour and criminal damage in the two locations. Sergeant Tania Ash from the Daventry North Safer Community Team said: "Over the last two months we have had an increase in reports of large numbers of young people gathering in these locations drinking alcohol, being abusive, intimidating other members of the community and causing damage." Police Officers, Police Community Support Officers, and Special Constables will be patrolling both areas and working together with park rangers and businesses to deter and reduce any anti-social behaviour. Officers will remove alcohol from anyone under the age of 18 and parents will be made aware of their childrens' behaviour and whereabouts. Anyone found to be causing anti-social behaviour or criminal offences will be dealt with positively so that they do not spoil the use of the area for others. Sergeant Tania Ash said: "The operation plans to make the area a safer place for both adults and young people to enjoy. I would like to ask for Parents co-operation over the summer holidays, their assistance in finding more suitable activities for their children is vital to the success of this initiative."
