After the closure of the Corby Police Social Club in January this year, committee members decided that any remaining funds should be distributed among local and national charities. Sergeant Del Robertson, ex Chairman of the Social Club, and two other committee members will be visiting charities in Corby tomorrow (Thursday 17 July) to present each of them with a cheque for £1,000. The charities that will receive the donations include Teamwork Trust, Northamptonshire Children's Resource Centre and Lakelands Day Care Hospice. The Parkinson Society and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance will also receive a cheque for £1000 each, but the presentation dates are to be confirmed. Sergeant Del Robertson said: " It was a sad day in January when Corby Police Social Club closed its doors for the last time. There is however always a ‘silver lining' and it is very pleasing to be able to give something to these worthy and deserving charities that do incredible work for our communities." News Source:
